Youth Ministry

Here's a conversation on another blog about extroverted vs. introverted youth pastors. If there is a ministry of the church that is more extroverted than youth ministry, I don't know what it is. I can't tell you the number of job descriptions I found for youth pastor positions that involved words like "dynamic," "charismatic," or "excitable." While I haven't worked in youth ministry, I have worked quite a bit in college ministry, and the expectations for extroverted leaders were enormous.

Go over there and add to that conversation!

  1. Just today I came across a youth minister's blog who was complaining about retreats were folks were invited to spend time in silence and solitude for prayer and meditation. He found this to be boring and a waste of time and not the sort of thing a Christian should be doing when their was hands-on ministry and fellowship with others to engage in. Then, of course, he admitted to being an extrovert.

Your book looks very interesting. I will definitely preorder a copy for myself and my fellow introverted Senior pastor!
